I recently stumbled upon one of the most amazing websites I have seen in a long time. It’s called Breathing Earth, and it’s a simulation of the carbon dioxide emission levels of every country in the world.
It also shows the birth and death rates of people in each of those countries.
According to an article in The Earth Times, Queen Elizabeth II has recently bought the world’s largest windmill for an undisclosed amount (which I’m guessing is ridiculously expensive).
This windmill is going to be built by Clipper Windpower, a wind turbine manufacturer based out of Carpinteria, California.
The best thing about the windmill: it will reduce over 724,000 tons of carbon dioxide in its lifetime. That’s because it’s going to be the length of two soccer fields and will be 574 feet high.
This is a great move for the Queen, who is proving that money isn’t the only green thing that royalty is concerned with.
And the award of world’s oldest man goes to: Tomoji Tanabe of Japan.
Today he celebrated his 113th birthday!
So what keeps this man ticking? He says:
Eating vegetables
Drinking milk every day
NO alcohol
Sounds like a healthy green diet to me.
He also loves fried shrimp, but I’m assuming that his lack of drinking alcohol makes the finger food not as fun to play with, so he’s going to cut back.
Something is smelly in San Antonio…and it’s not just the cows!
Apparently San Antonio residents produce about 140,000 tons of biosolids (a nice term for human waste) per year, which in return produces a LOT of methane gas. And methane gas can be converted into natural gas.
So what do you get when you introduce a lot of gassy residents to a natural gas company? Up to 1.5 million cubic feet of eco-friendly gas per day!
That’s right! The city just approved a deal to allow natural gas company Ameresco Inc. to help convert San Antonio’s human waste to fuel for power generation.
We often don’t think about our staircases as being eco-friendly, but these skateboard steps show that just about anything can be reused and refurbished:
Batman has Robin. Cheech has Chong. Turner has Hooch. KAB Man (Keep America Beautiful Man), a superhero who battles polluters around the world has…no one.
In this episode KAB Man has to choose a partner. But is choosing between a beloved Native American and a gorgeous supermodel as easy as it looks?
See for yourself:

I’ve heard of so many different reasons why Portland, Oregon is a great, green place to live, but when I read about its new Green Microgym I was truly convinced of the city’s eco-friendliness.
This gym aims to become the first human-powered gym in the U.S., according to personal trainer and owner Adam Boesel.
Despite the gym being 2,800 square-feet, Boesel hopes that using both solar and human energy will “move the human powered renewable energy technology to the next level.”
I must admit that I think this is a great idea, but I needed to find further proof this this gym wasn’t just created by a couple of meatheads who jumped on the green bandwagon.
