Do you care enough about the Mediterranean bluefin tuna to boycott it completely? That means not eating it, selling it or cooking it?
Well, about 16,000 citizens from 149 countries have decided to do just that.

WWF has created a petition, which was signed by 15,941people, to present to the Contracting Parties of the International Commission for the Conservation of Atlantic Tunas (ICCAT).
They hope that the Commission will make sure that the fish is no longer sold in restaurants or markets so that it will have time to repopulate and properly breed in fisheres. This will save the species from going completely extinct.

Every time I read news about how green Oregon is, it just makes me want to pack up and move there!
Not only does Oregon have America’s first human-powered microgym in Portland, but it also boasts the world’s first winery to use sustainable cork stoppers certified by the Rain Forest Alliance.
Willamette Valley Vineyards has been offering tasty wine for over 25 years. It is also one of the most eco-friendly wineries in the world.

The company gives 10 cents for every wine bottle people bring in to recycle.

In an article in BBC News, Dr. George Wilson, an Australian scientist, has come up with a grand solution to reduce Australia’s carbon footprint: eat more kangaroo.
Apparently the sheep and cattle that are herded for livestock in Australia account for 11% of the country’s methane gas production, no thanks to their continuous belching and gas-passing.
That’s a lot of toxic gas!
But kangaroos produce very little methane gas because they have completely different digestive systems.
And they are the perfect alternative to traditional cow burgers.
I think these guys would agree:

Could you imagine going to your favorite Ben & Jerry’s ice cream shop and seeing your favorite flavors in an eco-friendly freezer?
Well, in certain areas of Washington D.C., Vermont and Boston you can see flavors like Cherry Garcia, Chunky Monkey, Phish Food and Half Baked in a new hydrocarbon freezer!
These freezers don’t release any Hydrofluorocarbons (HFCs), which are harmful gases that contribute to global warming.
What do I have to say about this?
“You scream, I scream, we all scream for hydrocarbon frozen ice cream!”

And the award of world’s oldest man goes to: Tomoji Tanabe of Japan.
Today he celebrated his 113th birthday!
So what keeps this man ticking? He says:
- Eating vegetables
- Drinking milk every day
- NO alcohol
Sounds like a healthy green diet to me.
He also loves fried shrimp, but I’m assuming that his lack of drinking alcohol makes the finger food not as fun to play with, so he’s going to cut back.

Hannes Broecke, a German artist, figured out how to create works of art that people could not only consume with their eyes, but also with their mouths!

Iron Chef America is a great spin-off of the original Iron Chef show that was “cooked up” in Japan.
This past January Chicago Chef Homaru Cantu dethroned Iron Chef Masaharu Morimoto, gaining respect from his fellow food connoisseurs and widespread acclaim from followers of the show.
But did you know that Chef Cantu also cares about the environment? Well he does, and so much in fact that to reduce waste he created “edible menus” for his restaurant. They even come with dipping sauce!
Here’s a picture:

Most people get their protein from meat, but did you know that you could go meat-free and also get it from bugs…like a beetle?
Well, you can get knowledge about protein from a different kind of beetle.
According to Paul McCartney, a pop culture icon from the legendary rock and roll band The Beatles, you don’t have to eat meat to be healthy.
A vegetarian for many years, McCartney is asking for all Britons to adopt “Meat-Free
Mondays,” which is apparently popular in Australia.
He says this will reduce the environmental impact of cattle rearing and help protect the planet.
Here’s the full article.
McCartney is the latest star to wear a “Eat No Animal” t-shirt for a PETA advertising campaign.
Now what I don’t understand is why McCartney and Yoko Ono don’t get along, since they both are vegetarians.
Maybe all the lack of “red” meat has them “green” with vegetable envy.

I wrote a blog last week about how nice it would be If Celebrities Endorsed Organic Food Products instead of coming up with their own line of expensive jeans, smelly cologne or overpriced shoes.
Just think how much better our world would be if celebrities used their money and status to endorse healthy products instead of products that half of us could never afford to buy anyways.
Unlike designer handbags and digital cameras, food is something we all need. So here is some more wishful thinking for celebrities that I would like to see endorse organic food products:

It seems that every celebrity nowadays has his or her own “side business” going on. George Foreman has his grills. Lil’ Wayne has his as well. J-lo has her clothing line. Scarlett Johansson has an album (with horrible reviews). Keanu Reeves and Jared Leo have their own band. Donald Trump has….everything.
I really like the celebrities that endorse eco-friendly products. Especially food products, because everyone likes food. Look at Paul Newman and his salad dressing. Very tasty stuff.
So I decided to make up a few of my own organic products that would be endorsed by celebrities. Yes, you thought I was crazy when I said that Amy Winehouse would make a good eco-spokesperson. But when you read my post you were convinced. Right?
Well if you weren’t before, now you will be. I will convince you that these celebrities could one day endorse organic food products.

I recently came across an article titled “44 Surprising Things You Can Eat - From Gold Pills to Deodorant.” It was truly amazing to see how many things could actually be ingested by a human being.
The items listed in the article are great because they not only taste good, but they’re also great for the environment! Instead of being thrown away and winding up in our overcrowded landfills, they go straight to your stomach. Now that’s the true definition of waste-free.
The article got me connecting its content with the world of pop culture. So I decided to pick a few of my favorite items and see how a true pop icon would use them.
And the 8 edible items and pop icons are:
Flavor of Gold
Flavor Flav, you know that we love your dazzling golden smile and all the oversized bling hanging from your neck, but can’t you just take some of these 24K gold pills at $275 a pop and shine from the inside?

Common to Japanese cuisine, a bento box is a single-portion lunchbox that usually holds sushi and a few other small side dishes.
I recently came across these amazing recreations of album covers that were created with the ingredients that are often found in bento boxes.
Here are my favorites:
You’d probably “Kiss the Sky” when you ate this Hendrix cover made from nori, paprika (red & orange), egg and rice.
