I try to buy recycled or eco-friendly products whenever possible because it’s good for the environment and it makes me feel better about all the waste I threw away when I was younger.
As I try new things I’d like to give my review of both good and bad products. Here are a few I like:
1. Pure & Natural Renewing Grapefruit and Pomegranate Bar Soap - This bar soap not only smells great, but it’s also made from real grapefruit and pomegranate, which leaves your skin feeling soft.
2. Tom’s Natural Toothpaste - I switched to this a few months ago and it’s definitely a better alternative to Colgate or Crest. The ingredients are all-natural, it tastes great and it’s cruelty-free towards animals.

I’ve never had a yacht. I’ll never have a yacht.
But one thing I do have is a desire to own a yacht that I can take out on the weekends to sail away from the stress of reality.
What would be even better was if the yacht was eco-friendly and ran on solar and wind power.
Well, Erik Sifrer has just designed a 187-foot green luxury sailboat yacht that is completely controlled by a touchscreen computer!
Take a look:

We often don’t think about our staircases as being eco-friendly, but these skateboard steps show that just about anything can be reused and refurbished:

Tony Hawk should definitely endorse these!

I watch the show Battleground Earth: Tommy Lee vs. Ludacris every Sunday on Planet Green.
A few weeks ago the two along with their “ecorages” did a challenge to create a green funeral service. Tommy was to do the burial of Hip Hop while Ludacris gladly accepted the burial of Rock. Of course the host was Gene Simmons, the legendary lead singer of Kiss.
Needless to say, neither of them really incorporated anything green into their presentations, but at least the initial idea was a good one.
I had never really thought about a green funeral until the show, when it stated that enough concrete is used every year for tombstones to create a two-lane highway from New York to California (I don’t remember the exact quote, but it’s very close to this one).
So I did some research and found a great article on MSNBC.com that discussed the rising popularity of eco-friendly burials. Here are two entirely different yet very green ways that graves are going green:

Oh, the Apple iPod. It’s one of the greatest pop culture inventions of the last few years (besides the Nintendo Wii).
But ever since Apple was criticized by Greenpeace about the toxic chemicals that it uses in its products, the latest iPhone, the 3G, will now be arriving in….green packaging!
As part of the company’s Greener Apple Campaign, Apple ordered recyclable potato starch paper trays from the company PaperFoam for the millions of new iPods that will be released next week, which is a huge green step up from the Styrofoam that was used for the MacBook Pros.
The best part: these paper trays will have a 90% smaller carbon footprint than past packaging material.

I recently came across an article titled “44 Surprising Things You Can Eat - From Gold Pills to Deodorant.” It was truly amazing to see how many things could actually be ingested by a human being.
The items listed in the article are great because they not only taste good, but they’re also great for the environment! Instead of being thrown away and winding up in our overcrowded landfills, they go straight to your stomach. Now that’s the true definition of waste-free.
The article got me connecting its content with the world of pop culture. So I decided to pick a few of my favorite items and see how a true pop icon would use them.
And the 8 edible items and pop icons are:
Flavor of Gold
Flavor Flav, you know that we love your dazzling golden smile and all the oversized bling hanging from your neck, but can’t you just take some of these 24K gold pills at $275 a pop and shine from the inside?

And by Prada I mean a Prada handbag, because every classy lady should have an expensive designer handbag, right?
Well, I consider myself a classy lady…most of the time…except when I’m watching the Orioles and they are down by 5 in the last inning. Then I get crassy, not classy! But overall I’m classy in my demeanor. And I’ve never spent more than $25.00 on a handbag. Read the rest of this entry »
